What the business is
Modern Way trades and distributes chemical raw materials internationally. We buy in producer-scale volumes and break them into the lot sizes and packaging our customers consume, so a manufacturer gets first-tier material without committing to producer minimum order quantities, prepayment terms or import formalities.
Coatings, paints and printing inks are the core segment. Home care and detergents, agrochemicals, pharmaceutical raw materials, oilfield chemicals and personal care follow the same model: the commodity backbone of a formulation alongside the specialities that determine how it performs.
Supply-chain capability is part of the offer rather than a separate service. The people who price the material also coordinate its movement, so packaging, documentation and shipping dates are settled while the order is still being placed instead of afterwards.
Position
Singapore is where the company is registered and where its obligations sit. It is also a practical base for this trade: one of the world’s principal chemical trading and shipping hubs, with the banking and legal infrastructure that international counterparties expect.
The address published on this site is the company’s registered office. It is not a warehouse, a plant or a storage site, and we do not present it as one. Material is held at third-party facilities appropriate to each consignment.
How the work is organised
These functions have to happen in any serious raw material trade, and each has an owner:
- Commercial — pricing, contract terms, and the customer relationship for a segment
- Sourcing — qualifying producers, keeping more than one approved source per product line where the market allows it
- Technical — reading a customer specification against what is actually available, and proposing equivalents where a grade is not
- Logistics — packaging, booking, declaration, documentation and the movement itself
- Finance and documentation — payment terms, currency, and the documentary set that goes with a shipment
- Compliance — counterparty screening, end-use questions and the decision to decline a transaction
Where we trade
We buy from producers in Northeast and Southeast Asia, Europe and the Gulf, and supply manufacturers across those same markets. Material moves in full container loads, ISO tanks, flexitanks, IBCs, drums and palletised bags, on Incoterms® 2020 terms agreed per contract.
Enquiries are quoted against a specification rather than a catalogue: product or CAS number, grade, volume, packaging and destination. Where a grade is unavailable we propose the closest equivalent and state exactly where it differs.
